Slinger Ring

The slinger ring is usually made of metal, leather, or rubber. The slinger is located on the drive shaft immediately behind the stuffing box. The function of the slinger ring is to prevent water from flowing along the shaft and into the bearing housing and or the motor. It rotates with the shaft and throws the water off, by centrifugal force.
