Wastewater Pathogens online provides wastewater personnel with a guide to the pathogens that are found in wastewater, bioaerosols, and biosolids and how the pathogens are transmitted to personnel. Groups of pathogens reviewed include: viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa and helminths. The class presents the locations where pathogens are most concentrated in wastewater facilities and the fate of pathogens, i.e., removed, consumed by higher life forms, inactivated, and destroyed. The class reviews disinfectants, indicator organisms and immunobiologicals. The class is accompanied by handouts that provide the following information: 1) glossary, 2) hygiene measures and practices, 3) personal protective equipment (PPE) and training and 4) additional information or references.
