This course includes a relatively in-depth presentation of the microbiology and chemistry that occurs in the activated sludge process. The greatest interest of operators is troubleshooting and optimizing their systems. Many have been operating a system on the “this is how we have always done it” basis. Practical and direct strategies for operation and troubleshooting is what they want, not design calculations. This course addresses both the fundamental microbiology and chemistry of the activated sludge process, and the practical aspects of operating, optimizing, and troubleshooting.
